1925 - 2015

Stuart Wagstaff, AM, Patron of the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW, died 10 March 2015, at the age of 90 years.

Stuart's theatrical career started in England after he left the Royal Navy, but it really took off in Australia, his adopted country. Stuart first came to Australia to appear in J C Williamson's 'Not In the Book' in 1958. The following year he was cast in 'My Fair Lady' and was associated with the show for four and a half years, followed by another long run with 'The Sound of Music'.

Stuart was a very familiar face to TV viewers, hosting variety shows, panel games and commercials. He was one of the original members of the Variety Club in Australia and was recognised for his work with the charity when he received the honour of Member of the Order of Australia.

Stuart was a devoted Patron of the ABF from 2006 to 2015. Stuart had kindly organised a bucket collection for the Fund at his memorial on 31 March 2015, which raised close to $2400. He will be remembered fondly and sadly missed by all who knew him.
